Sound Off for May 10, 2020

Hand washing

While traveling through Alabama last summer, at one restaurant we stopped at, on the mirror in the restroom was a simple sticker that said: “if you won’t lick your fingers, wash your hands.” It made sense to me.

Please don’t share

Masks are not intended to prevent you from getting COVID-19; masks are intended to prevent you from spreading it. You may not even realize you’ve been infected, but what you spread can be deadly to others. The mask is a community service that you do for others. So please wear your mask correctly, over your nose and mouth, or not at all; your chin doesn’t spread the virus.

Meat shortage

The meat shortage makes me realize what Biloxi Bacon was about during the depression. Luckily we have a abundance of seafood here on the Coast.

Forced choices

Gov. Tate Reeves believes is correct by keeping certain businesses closed, but I respectfully disagree. We are in grave danger of losing many lives to increased rates of suicide, addiction and domestic violence as the lockdown and associated financial hardships continue. No one is forced to patron any business, or socialize with anybody who chooses to live life outside the confines of their house. Please do not force your choices on me and I promise not to force my choices on you. If you are worried I will infect you, just avoid me. I will be the person without a mask.

Keep the love

Although times are tough and we unfortunately, still have loss, our environment still needs our consideration. Please don’t let balloons fly free into the sky. Those pretty memorials will eventually land and most certainly will kill something. Turtles, birds and numerous other wildlife, us included, are impacted by this horrible act that started in love. Balloons are not environmentally safe and last forever. Let us keep the love!

Nice try

So, Brett Favre says he gets money “all the time” for appearances and such. He gets $1.1 million from the welfare fund and knows nothing about it. Really? Yet, he made no speeches or made any appearances. Anyone else see a slight disconnect here? We all wish a million bucks would show up that we “know nothing about.”
