Sound Off for May 9, 2020
Pointing fingers
At least Brett Favre paid the money back. What difference does it make when? Majority of the people found guilty of embezzling have never paid a dime back or they pay a fraction of what was owed. Did it ever occur to y’all this money went to his foundation and not directly to him? Perhaps he had no idea those funds were received and/or he was expected to make appearances? Maybe he’s a victim of an embezzler. Always quick to point a finger.
Open up
It’s unrealistic to have America continue in lockdown awaiting a magic time without any COVID infections. The fact is without the virus, people will die everyday. Anyone can get a flu or cold anytime. Chronic diseases kill every day. Almost half of America is obese and that is taking people out. We haven’t stopped the entire country for any of those “epidemics.”
Reopening
Just as I suspected. The first day of retail stores reopening and not a mask on a single person in the TV report. It appears people are not going to take this virus seriously until someone they personally know has died. People who never stayed home and never wore a mask now think it’s all over now and everything is now back to normal. Is this ignorance or stupidity?
More wipes
Cannot believe the people out shopping without masks. We may not be so lucky in the next few weeks as the silent war is not over. You may be the next one affected — one never knows. Businesses please put out wipes so we can clean the carts we use.
Too risky
Indoor gatherings are limited to 10 people yet the Harrison County School District is holding graduation at the Coliseum for its three high schools. Each student will be given four tickets for family members. Even with the smallest graduating class, there will be over 1,000 people gathered. I know these students have worked hard for 13 years to have the honor of graduating. However, I feel their health, the health of their family members, the health of the faculty and staff who are being required to attend, and the health of the Coliseum staff is more important. We are in the middle of a global pandemic and many are doing everything in their power to slow the spread. Why would anyone deliberately put people at risk?
