Sound Off

Sound Off for May 6, 2020

What gives?

I have been submitting a lot of really legitimate Sound Offs lately and none of them are getting published. I go and read the ones that are in there and they are ridiculous.

A big risk

Do you know how many people I see who don’t wash their hands after using the restroom at the casinos? Bad idea to even consider opening them up anytime soon. No matter how much they think they would clean, trust me, there will still be COVID-19 germs lingering. Plus, visitors from neighboring states will put our citizens on the Coast and all employees at risk.

Too many deaths

America has the most COVID-19 cases and deaths in the world. Do you know why? Because our horrible political leadership, and the selfish and absorbent egos of some Americans who think they are invincible. I think all news channels need to start showing videos of people with COVID-19 on ventilators, so people can really see what he virus is doing to people. If people see the graphic nature of it, then they would be less eager to be protesting and emphasize staying safe.

Just dislike

I do not hate Trump. I dislike him. And lest you forget, during the Obama years protesters rallied with guns, he and his wife were compared to animals and hate mail was constant. I could go on and on.

Odd comment

Had a woman tell me this morning she couldn’t wait for things to open up again. Why? Because she was whining about how out of shape she’s become and all the pounds she’s packed on while doing nothing during the lockdown. Really?

Teamwork matters

Was reading some old articles about football Coach Don Shula. In one they talked about what should’ve been his greatest team that had 19 first-round draft choices but never panned out. Shula said he could never get them to play as a team, and their individual focus was not on developing or playing up to their potential. It also noted that most were gone from the NFL within six years. Just thought it was interesting.

No to the Times

To your news department: If I wanted to read the New York Times, I would subscribe. How about writing news pertinent to the local area instead of just copying and pasting?
