Sound Off for May 4, 2020

You first

Do I want to go out for breakfast and linger over coffee? Do I want to go out to dinner with neighbors and friends, linger over dessert and wine? You bet I do! Only problem is I don’t want to die for a few hours of enjoyment. So home I stay, talk to neighbors over driveways, family by phone. I’m home until the end of May and see how those who go out unprotected do.

To ‘stop the blame’

This is for the person who wants people to stop blaming President Trump. You said the response from any other president would not have been different. I beg to differ. It is a fact that in mid-2018 the Trump administration axed the executive branch team responsible for coordinating a response to a pandemic and did not replace it. The government would have been able to respond sooner if that had been in place. And may I remind you that as late as Feb. 28 in a South Carolina rally Trump downplayed the severity of the outbreak, comparing it to the common flu. Consequently our country lost precious time in responding to the pandemic.

Not his virus

I guess I am unsure exactly why the liberal is just now urging the populace to rise and protest the president. The protests started in January of 2016 and continued nonstop for four years. In that time, Trump’s leadership exposed the corrupt Democrat party, survived a bogus impeachment, turned the FBI into a laughing stock, reduced unemployment, shall I go on? This is not his virus by the way.

Plan B

On April 27, there were 183 new cases of the coronavirus reported statewide. On May 1, 396 new cases were reported, the highest daily increase since the pandemic began. Doesn’t appear loosening restrictions is working. Hope our leaders have a “plan B” ready.

Current craziness

It seems people are going nuts with the conflicting information surrounding the current situation with this new virus. Please use your God-given sense and please don’t drink the “Kool-Aid.” Divide and conquer has been a political strategy since humans have grouped together. Hysteria and condemnation of folks with different views serves no constructive purpose. Take care of you and yours. The rest will fall into place.
