Sound Off for May 3, 2020
Thank you
I would like to say thank you and commend our governor for doing such a great job during this crisis. He has made the people of the great state of Mississippi proud. I don’t think his opponent would have came across near as well to the rest of the nation.
No diversions
We must hold legislators responsible for every penny of the disaster money. Now is the time far all of you people who make it their mission to ruin lives with social media to use it on any legislator trying to divert disaster money.
Listen to authorities
Stay safe and listen to authorities in health. Just spoke to my son in Australia, their first cases of the virus was about two weeks before the USA. On May 1 they got permission to un-shelter at home. Total for Australia 6,767 cases, 93 deaths; Mississippi 7,212 cases and 281 deaths.
Insight
It’s a shame what has happened in American nursing homes during this pandemic. Just remember, we’re all going to get old and chances are we will end up forgotten in one of these facilities.
Not the flu
To those comparing the coronavirus to the flu, think of this statistic: Flu kills approximately 60,000-70,000 Americans each year. So far, in just a little over three months, the coronavirus has killed 60,000 Americans. Do the math! People, we’ve shown in the past that a wrecked economy can be revived and rebuilt. No earthly person can revive a lost loved one!
Heroes
Concerning “True Heroes” Sound Off. Why would you feel the need to even say such a thing? Is there a hero competition going on in your head? News flash. Our military also work at a job for pay and they get a lot more benefits than health care workers.
Wake up
It was extremely disappointing to see an individual quoted in the paper as saying they are not going to wear a mask unless they are sick. This is so incredibly ignorant and more importantly dangerous to others in the community. This virus has infected a very large number of people who never show symptoms. Moreover, people who do have symptoms are contagious before those symptoms show.
