Sound Off

Sound Off for April 29, 2020

Perfect cocktail

Let me see, no pickup of bagged leaves, lifting of ban on burning leaves, wildfires. I wonder how that could happen?

Soothing side effect

An odd silver lining of the pandemic is the improvement in TV commercials. Less shouting. Less hard sell. More soothing, lullaby music. And I’ve never felt so cared for! Networks care. Celebrities care. Corporations care. Creepy toilet-paper bears care. OK, I know it’s all hogwash, but I’d be happy if this pleasant side effect would linger.

Tests

If the president and Tate Reeves say they have plenty of tests, then why do we have to jump hoops to get tested for COVID-19? It makes no sense to wait until you are sick to get tested. It makes no sense to reopen the economy if all are not tested. Quit lying to people and test, test, test.

Government help

I am really getting fed up with everybody blaming President Trump, the government, our local elected officials, etc. for not doing enough. I feel for the medical community as they are the ones that need help. Maybe after this is finally over, people will learn to save some and not buy everything they want, but limit it to the things they need. People, the helping hands are at the end of your arms. Quit whining.

Irresponsible pet owners

To the people who take their dogs to the library on Old Highway 49 in Gulfport, please pick up their waste! I take my dog there and pick up his waste. Waste bags are $1 for 60 at Dollar Tree! Plastic grocery bags are free! People eat on the benches there, take their children there and as do, I walk their dogs there. If you cannot be responsible keep your pets and their waste at your home!

Back to normal

I read the Sound Off section, daily and I cannot believe some of the things being posted. Not leaving a tip for not wearing a mask? Ridiculous! You cannot go on living life with your head in the sand! People are hurting economically; they need to work. This whole social distancing thing has gone way too far. The number of people with immunity, or who have recovered, far exceeds those who are getting sick. Re-open the economy and get back to normal!
