Sound Off for April 28, 2020

Dream of wine and dine

Okay, okay, okay. So I am ready to kick off my flip flops and slip on my platforms and favorite dress and have someone else serve me a glass of wine and dinner. Cheers to this moment soon!

Say again?

Did our Governor really say this? Direct quote reads, “And the economic damage has not hit every American fairly.” This is one of the most thoughtless remarks he has ever made. And he makes them regularly. It would be nice to know exactly who deserves to be hit harder. Will someone please get a follow-up to his logic?

Protect all of us

Even though wearing a mask in public is not mandated yet, it is common knowledge that wearing a mask in public protects those around you. If you don’t wear a mask this says something about you to those that are exposed to you. Attention all waitresses that bring my food to the curb without a mask and all restaurants that employ them, I will no longer tip if you are not wearing a mask and that will be the last time I give this restaurant my business even when the pandemic is over.

Mr. Reeves

Why can’t restaurants with outside seating open back up this coming week? It’s not like every restaurant has it so this could be a very good test run for when all of them can open!

Isolationship

I know now what others may do, but my wife and I will be quietly enjoying our isolationship for at least another month.

A tough choice

Our governor is beginning to open our state. Many see this as a good thing; but be aware of the cost. The faster we open the more deaths we will have; the slower we open the fewer people will die. This is called a “Morton’s Fork,” how to chose between two bad alternatives. Maybe the best path is a slow open of businesses but restrict large gatherings to an absolute minimum.

Man for the people

No one is more deserving of a pat-on-the-back or merit badge than Bay St. Louis Mayor Mike Favre! The fact that he sent police to break up Friday night’s Beach Boulevard party is to be commended by all residents who value their community.
