Sound Off for April 24, 2020

Too long

I filed the last week of February and I still have not received my debit card from the unemployment benefits. My money is just sitting there every week now and here I am no groceries, gas and bills piling up. I cannot get through to anyone to check whats the status of the card getting mailed to me. I know there are many cards to get out but over a month now and no card. Help!

Inconvenience

The Meadows Ave. entrance to KAFB has been blocked for several weeks. This entrance is critical for people coming from the D’Iberville area and Interstate 110. Instead they have to go to U.S. 90 and take the White Ave. gate entrance. The other choice is the Pass Road entrance from the West of KAFB. Another annoying and completely unnecessary inconvenience.

Look don’t touch

Please touch only the items you intend to buy and get your item and move on. Grocers will you arrange items such as potatoes so people can see the contents without turning over every bag looking for baking-sized potatoes. Meat should be arranged in a single layer to limit handling also.

Chilly proof

CoVID-19 is “no worse than the flu,” some say. They claim the flu causes as many deaths in a season. Really? I can’t recall years when New York and New Orleans have had to bring in refrigerated trucks to store the bodies because morgues and funeral homes couldn’t process them fast enough.

Victim mentality

Must be sad to go through life depending on the government for everything – including peace of mind. If you think the Chinese properly handled the problem that originated on their shores and you think “the government” of the U.S. mishandled its response, then you have a multitude of problems that “the government” will never be able to help you with. Once one becomes self reliant and abandons the “victim” mentality, life itself becomes wonderful to live even during a crisis.

Real liberty

Everyone wants to enjoy the freedoms this country offers. Those individuals who protest have a selfish attitude at the potential loss of life to others. The front-line essential personnel are risking themselves everyday to save lives while the selfish undermine their efforts.
