Locals only

I certainly hope that when the Harrison County opens the beaches that they are patrolled and that the out-of-state folks are told to go home.

Where’s the eye?

I don’t think we are any where near a peak or whatever you choose to call it with COVID. The social distance and stay home protocols are helping to curb a faster rate of infection. But we are no where near done. To allow lifting of restrictions now before we see significant drops in the case numbers is tantamount to everyone running outside in a hurricane because the winds died down only to realize it was just the eye passing.

Distancing

Beaches open but stay-in-place still in effect. Sounds like a mixed message to me!

Liberties

I acknowledge the virus is serious, deadly for some. However, at what point do we ask the government not to intervene in our liberties? I suspect automobile accidents are one of the most deadly actions. Clearly, changing the speed limit from 70 mph to 25 mph would save millions of lives. Should that be imposed?

Just like always

To “Respect Life” regarding the non-use of masks. Part of what you said is absolutely true. “We will never stop this spread.” My choosing to not wear a mask has nothing to do with disrespect for others. I will continue to do the things I have always done which is stay home when I’m sick, covering my mouth when I cough, and frequently wash my hands. Just like I was raised to do. We have survived worse viruses without all of this overreaction.

Need a mask

All of our political and medical leaders tell us to wear our face masks faithfully. I would be glad to do so if I could get one. Would someone be so kind as to tell me where the masks are on sale?

Over the top?

I agree with the VA employees wanting adequate personal protection equipment to wear at work since it is a healthcare environment with a hospital. However, their demand for special hazard pay is a bit over the top as VA employees are paid wages which are significantly higher than local worker wages.
