Natural course

Someone had to agree to the entire Mississippi basin levee storm system before it was built. Wasn’t the spillway built specifically to prevent the land from flooding? Isn’t the Army Corps of Engineers doing exactly what they were commissioned to do? Save the land, destroy the fisheries; save the fisheries, destroy the farmland and cities. The engineers can’t win. Maybe they should let nature take its course and see how people feel then.

Incubation factor

In response to “overreaction,” that’s fine and dandy to think you can simply avoid this virus by “avoiding people that are obviously sick.” The problem with your theory is the incubation period for COVID is 2-14 days. . How do you plan to handle that? Social distancing was the only way the 1918 flu pandemic was finally contained. It’s a small sacrifice to make. If not for yourself, for someone else.

Guns

I see in today’s news that some more young people have killed some more young people. I have followed the news about the last bunch of kids that killed a young girl, and not one mention of how these kids got the gun. I would like to know if the police have tracked the guns to any adults. They have to get the guns from somebody, and they should also be arrested.

Self control

To “More masks,” we can’t control what other people are doing/not doing, but we can wear our masks, slather ourselves with hand sanitizer and keep our distance, especially from people not taking precautions. And, go to the store only when you absolutely have to.

To the “crusty retirees” who made the commotion at the commissary, shame on you! You should be proud of your service and be respectful to those who are now serving. Remember the commissary is a privilege, and the Air Force mission is the active duty force.

Failure

It is a fundamental failure of our government that the wealthiest nation cannot figure out how to provide N-95 masks to the population. This is how the Chinese recovered. These previously inexpensive masks save lives, prevent spread of virus, and give additional freedoms. The Defense Production Act could have been activated to produce these masks.
