Sound Off for April 18, 2020
Not for me
“Big problems” was disturbed to see so few people at a crowded Walmart wearing face masks and was wondering why. When President Trump was asked whether he would wear a face mask he said, “I don’t see it for me,” so he doesn’t wear one. So I guess lots of his supporters don’t see it for themselves either.
Respect life
I can’t speak for the rest of the state, but I know what I see here on the Coast. Not many wear masks when out among people. We will never stop this spread until the governor makes it mandatory that everyone in state wear masks and stores stop people from entering if not wearing one. I wear one to protect other people. Please. Wear one to protect me.
Save the village
The restrictions placed on our citizens; while necessary, are devastating to our economy. It reminds me of the phrase used by an Army officer at the battle of Ben Tre Vietnam. “We had to destroy the village in order to save it.” Unfortunately, like our current situation, it was necessary in order to reduce casualties.
Kindness shown
Just wanted to say a big thank you to Curt, Amber and the AMR Ambulance, Biloxi fire and police department personnel who responded to my 911 call on Thursday afternoon on the Popps Ferry causeway. My husband had a stressful episode and all who attended him were the kindest people. He, as well as I, appreciate the help, the advice, and the well wishes given. Stay safe and I’ll say a prayer.
Good idea
“Israel’s Adopt-A-Doctor initiative began mid-March and within 10 days over 1,300 volunteers adopted 550 medical professionals. Volunteers help make life a little easier by cooking or sending food to the medic during shifts or for arrival home, watching kids, shopping, walking pets, or donating.”
Junk mail
In this day when every foreign object you touch can be considered deadly, shouldn’t junk mail be considered a life threat?
