Sound Off for April 12, 2020
No end in sight
Would somebody please send the lamplighter to go turn on the light at the end of the tunnel? Please.
Wear sunscreen
Now that we are restricted to our homes, many people have taken the time to do some gardening. That means more exposure to direct sunlight and a greater risk of skin cancer. Even without our current predicament, every year more than 3 million Americans will come down with skin cancer, including melanomas. Please use sunblock and prevent a future epidemic of skin cancer after what we are now going through.
Proper names
President Trump called this virus the Chinese virus and the news blasted him. I think he used the correct terminology. Research now believes the Spanish flu of 1918 started in northern China in 1917. Shall we call it the Chinese flu of 1918!
Not thrilled
Trump said recently that many hospital administrators including ones in the hot spots are “thrilled” to be where they are in reference to PPE/supplies on hand. This is a lie. Wake up America. We are on our own and now a third world country. Hey y’all the emperor has no clothes.
Mask stash
If these N95 masks are so hard to get and there aren’t enough for healthcare workers, then where are all these celebs and companies getting them to “donate” during photo ops and news releases? Just wondering.
All at risk
Please don’t make this virus about race. A virus doesn’t know race or socioeconomics. We are all just as vulnerable as the next person. This country is already divided enough, and it’s apparent we are on our own. Now is the time to come together as a human race against a formidable foe, not fight among each other. Each life is just as precious as the next.
Belief
“Root causes” is wrong. The people who chose not to vaccinate were not predominately Jewish. They were a misguided diversified group of people basing their beliefs on conspiracy theories.
Unity
We need to set aside divisiveness and com together and fight COVID-19. Not as one persuasion or another, but as human beings. Reach out and help. Be calm.
