Sound Off for April 8, 2020
Kudos to Keesler
This morning when I returned from my walk around our apartment complex, my wife told m someone had called her from Keesler just to inquire as to how she was doing, was she experiencing any symptoms of the virus, etc. She was very pleased that they called. Just a few minutes later, I received a similar call. Hats off to the Keesler medical personnel and all of the medical personnel throughout the country working to bring this crisis to an end.
Follow medical advice
I’m a doctor, and I’ve been amazed during the COVID-19 epidemic at how many people with no medical or epidemiological training have their own ideas about what they need to do to stay safe. Granted, not all of the medical experts agree, but smart people are using the maximum protection suggested. Once you’re dead, your opinion won’t matter.
Golden guarantee
I guarantee history books will blame Trump for all of the U.S.’s woes since 2016 just as the media has reported.
No masks?
My father was admitted today to a hospital due to a stroke. He is up in age, as is my mother. He has been self-quarantining for the last three weeks, to protect my mother, whose health has been more fragile than my dad’s usually robust self. In spite of the impact that the stroke has had on him, he wants out. The nurses are not wearing facial protection. They say that the orders have not been put in place yet to do so! But yet the state is calling for all residents to wear them?
Natural flow
The reason the Mississippi delta was once the richest and most productive farmland in the world is because of flooding that brought nutrients to the soil each year. Now, thanks to spillways and flood control, that once rich soil is being depleted every year of much needed nutrients. As for New Orleans, who in their right mind builds below sea level?
Beach ban
Monday, April 6, riding down Beach Blvd. in Bay St Louis and seen a family playing on the beach, where was the Bay P.D.? Seen small signs posted here and there, but they most likely did not read them. The signs need to be large so people will see them.
