Sound Off for April 4, 2020
Success stories?
Please pass along to whoever is the lead on reporting coronavirus statistics. Another statistic that could be reported that would be useful would be the number of confirmed cases who have now recovered, ie have gone 3 weeks since confirmation testing and are asymptomatic. All we’re seeing currently is new cases and deaths. Gotta be some success stories out there.
Bad timing
I understand cable companies raising their rates. However one must question the timing of the recent hike in rates. In a time when money is so tight and people are at home more than ever, it seems the cable companies would postpone this hike. No wonder people are resorting to other means of watching their favorite shows and movies.
Blessed
Since churches are limited to online services now, is it necessary to put the musicians at risk? I have seen several vocalists/instrumentalists performing in close proximity to each other, not to mention the fact that when you sing, particles that may or may not be infectious are forced from your mouth. There is also the pressure that one must feel when a pastor or priest asks you to do that. Hopefully, I speak for others when I say that we would feel blessed by a message only.
Time for fixes
Well at least the highway patrol license centers will be able to modernize and fix the day long waiting fiascos while they are closed. I can’t wait for the improvements!
Mindful or self-centered?
I think it’s great that people are taking precautions by doing things like wearing latex gloves while shopping, but just throwing them away on the ground instead of walking a few feet to a garbage can is just trashy and narcissistic.
Essential
To the writer of “Send Them Home,” I guess you are unaware that Internet banking and ATMs are not available for all customers and types of transactions. For example, the account for my daughter under conservatorship is ineligible for an ATM card. In-person visits to the bank are the only way that I can obtain cash for her. Some banking transactions cannot be conducted electronically. Open banks are essential businesses for many.
