Sound Off for April 1, 2020

All the helpers

Thank you to the garbage men, postal workers, store clerks and stockers, public works people, delivery drivers, medical workers, and cleaning teams for all your good work during these challenging times. Our world is a better place because of you.

Pray

People, pray. We are being overcome with this plague. .And, be sure, this is a plague. So I urge you to get on your knees and Pray. And pray some more. Pray that this disease will vanish.

Now not later

We need to stop residents from Louisiana from coming to Mississippi. Set up check points now! When they can’t get healthcare there, they are going to come to the MS Coast and flood our hospitals and bring the virus with them. We need to do it now not later.

Essential?

The former governor is making the rounds on his public tour, while at the same time saying Mississippi needs a shelter in place order. A network news host leaves home to go back to the studio to work, dragging along her staff and posse. She claims her job is important and people need her and it wasn’t working from home.

Very sad

Its a sad day when the U.S. adopts WHO guidelines for PPE designed for third world countries because they lack the proper equipment. We are a third world country now. Thanks Trump.

Virus testing

The Sun Herald reports Monday that testing for the COVID-19 virus remains limited. Trump in his Monday news conference said that he “had not heard that testing was a problem in weeks.” Would someone please send a copy of the Sun Herald to the White House?

Chain of command

It seems as though this pandemic effort needs a military-style chain of command to control its elimination. Who is better at that than the U.S. military? Send out the troops.

Unemployment insurance

The governor and department knew this problem was coming, being overwhelmed by applicants. Both did nothing to prepare. The bill took 2 weeks to pass, plenty of time to act!
