Sound Off for March 28, 2020

Do our part

To all of you who chose to use protective masks and other gear for hurricane mitigation, painting projects etc. and saved your unused masks for the next time, please pull them out of storage and give them to your near by hospital. I found some unused masks and hazmat gear I’d saved from Katrina and our hospital was thrilled to get them. Please help protect our healthcare providers!

Space out

It’s upsetting to see the crowded parking lot at Walmart and grocery stores. This tells me that we are not taking this virus as seriously as we should. Please my family who are working in the medical profession wishes you would. And I wish you would. I don’t want to be going to their funerals!

Message of hope

The media should remember that former presidents in times of national crisis have also spoken hopefully about the near and distant future, even while managing the crisis response. Quit trying to criticize President Trump for the same as if he is a dolt. President Roosevelt said after Pearl Harbor, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Regarding immense challenges, President Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

Die for the Dow

Trump wants those churches packed on Easter I’m all for that. Die for the Dow is the new red hat logo. Those churches will be filled with his base not practicing social distancing!

Shop smart

Should not the China be responsible financially for the damage their mishandling their virus has done to our economy ? Think about this when checking labels when you shop.

Bring on the Guard

People, time to wake up and follow the health rules. Some do, most don’t. Everybody has a better way are so they say on TV. I say, bring out the National Guard. Time to put a stop to those who think it doesn’t apply to them.

Kudos

As a long time resident of Ocean Springs, I must give credit to Gulfport’s management of the traffic light system. They do not stop 50+ cars in order to let the one car that pulls up on a side street immediately go. I wish other cities would follow suit.
