More tests

Limiting testing to only people with 100 degree temperatures will not help slow spread of the virus as many carriers have lesser symptoms and we and they don’t know it. Meanwhile, it continues to spread. Drive-thru testing should be available to anyone who wants it.

Get real

Really now, how are we going to keep Louisiana people away from the Coast? How are people on the beach going to affect anyone else? So few and far between. And the cruise ships in Gulfport harbor, do you see hoards of people pouring off of them?Get real, folks.

Burn bans needed

During the period of this medical pandemic which attacks the respiratory system, it looks like local government could enforce a burn ban for the sake of their citizens since some seem to have no sense of responsibility. Yard debris doesn’t have to be burned, just bag it and the city will pick it up.

Here we go again

Gov. Reeves is going to make Mississippi No. 1 again. This time it’ll be because of his nonchalant response to COVID-19. As of this time, Mississippi is ranked dead last in the United States in our response to this virus while having the 12th highest infection rate. I guess our governor is trying to keep Mississippi’s trophy for our #1 status as being the worst state in several negative categories.

Worldwide coverage

The swine flu of 2009-10 affected 61 million Americans yet produced little panic. Neither President Obama nor governors stopped life as we know it back then. Sporting events went on, schools and churches remained open. Disneyland was not affected! This crisis is made worse by worldwide media coverage.

Editor’s note: COVID-19 is not the same as the flu or swine flu. It now has a higher death rate and is more contagious, experts say.

Name that shop

The name of the men’s resort clothing store at the southeast corner of the Broadwater Hotel was Nick Stuart. I purchased a madras shirt there in 1964. Guess where the original location of John Bell Importer was and where was the final location?
