Sound Off for March 26, 2020
Be responsible
We should not allow visitors from Louisiana to come here at the moment. They could be more infected with the virus then the Gulf Coast. Stay home. We need to be responsible.
American ships
I’m all for helping the cruise ship industry. As long as it is a “American flagged vessel.” Which means built and registered in the USA.
Empty shelves
I applaud the businesses that have special times for seniors to shop. However, the working public trying to shop after working eight hours often finds empty shelves. Businesses should set aside time for these disadvantage employees also.
Secure borders
We must keep those borders secure. Meanwhile the mass exodus from New York continues to Florida and parts unknown.
Better use?
Wouldn’t it be nice if Congress would pass a bill only for the benefit of the American people, instead of using it as a platform to attach funding for their pet projects? I think those extra millions could be put to much better use.
Hollow assurances
“The crews are not getting off at all. The crews are relegated to the vessel.” At least that is what the Port of Gulfport director told us last week. Within minutes after docking, crew were getting off the ship. Eight days later crew are debarking in the hundreds. Does the port have any more hollow assurances they would like to share with the gullible public?
Basic math
The governor has signed a declaration where as no more than 10 people should gather. For businesses, this does not mean 10 customers, it means 10 people. That includes employees.
Not immune
Please answer me this. How is it the grocery stores are out of stock of many food items and paper supplies for an area they have always been able to support in the past? Could it be the very same people who are packing our beaches with no fear of spreading the virus actually deep down know the worst is yet to come? Respect your fellow neighbors. Don’t hoard and don’t think you are immune.
