Sound Off for March 24, 2020

Close it

Close it and they won’t come. No wonder Harrison County has the most cases. Parking lots full.

Stay home

If people are supposed to be staying home, then why are so many people spreading the virus! Everyone, stay home! It’s not that hard. I am at risk, and I am a caregiver with an elderly parent. I cannot get the virus. I don’t think you understand what is at stake here. Human lives. So, you don’t go to the beach, you don’t pick up take out, you sanitize your hands. You could be spreading the virus and the repercussions are putting others in danger!

No curfew

Curfews have a place, but not this time. One would be overbearing and ugly, against the spirit of all those who are already behaving responsibly. At very most, pattern something like the Louisiana “stay at home” directive. Simple latitude for the right set of actions.

Crowded stores

How is it that we limit the number of people gathering together but how is it that going to the store it doesn’t matter how many people are there?

More measures

I applaud the action by the Moss Point mayor to enforce sheltering at home. Let’s hope the governor hears the message and does the same.

Lawsuits coming

If any businesses have personnel that have the capability to work from home and those people aren’t being designated to do so, the employer should suffer the full wrath of the law if these people contract this virus.

Home deliveries

“Send In The Guard” on March 20 suggested the National Guard deliver food, water and other necessities. Is there concern that water to our taps will be shut off or be contaminated? Or are people above drinking tap water?

Sore loser

We moved here from Georgia, so I have kept up to date on the last Georgia governor’s race. Stacey Abrams lost the governor’s race, but refuses to concede to this day. Every investigation has shown she lost fair and square. She is an angry woman who feels entitled to the position. Her only claim to fame was being in the Georgia legislature. How does that make someone a “brilliant politician?” Also, she had not paid several years of federal taxes, which was brought to light during her failed campaign.
