Sound Off for March 23, 2020
Please tell your readers to stay home!!!
Not just restaurants
Why hasn’t Biloxi mandated the closing of gyms and hair and nail salons? These seem to be perfect places for spreading the virus.
No response
Apparently the issue with the Biloxi Farmer’s Market and the mayor letting a big company come in and sell was not even important enough for the mayor of Biloxi to respond to all the complaints.
Tourism business
Mayor Hewes wants to see cruise ships dock in Gulfport? Why? How about some real, livable-wage jobs, that don’t crash the minute gas goes over $2.50 a gallon, a storm appears in the forecast, or a flu bug arrives. Tourism is good when it works in concert with industry, but basing South Mississippi’s economy on visitors is folly.
Inside trading?
So you think the senators that sold stock just before the market dived are guilty of insider trading? You say they did this just before the coronavirus story broke. That story had been going on and getting worse day by day since back in December when the epidemic first broke out in China. I suspect they were watching the financial news just like everyone else and accurately predicted the market would dive when everyone in the U.S. started to panic.
Build it
Now tell me again why we don’t need border walls.
History question
Does anyone remember the name of the men’s shop on the east side of the Broadwater Beach Hotel building. I will be a Nonagenarian in a few months and spend a lot of my time playing memory games.
VP pick
Hopefully Biden will pick Stacey Abrams as his VP choice. She is from Gulfport, went to Anniston Elementary school, is the daughter of two Methodist ministers, is a brilliant politician and should be governor of Georgia now but for Republican dirty tricks.
Do more
Biloxi mall, Margaritaville and other attractions will remain open? Really? Not my choice of suicide. Do more to protect our hospitals, our residents.
