Sound Off for March 19, 2020
Rationing
Now is the time for all supermarkets to limit what people buy. This has been done after hurricanes, so it could certainly be done now. Limits should range from no more than one loaf of bread for single people, and a limited number for large families.
Save it
COVID-19 should remind all that saving money equivalent to 3-6 months of living expenses is a good idea. Spending all disposable income on designer clothes, cellphone and travel is not wise.
Right to know
As far as the right to privacy for the persons with the virus, I believe that I have a right to know if I have been in contact with them or if they have been in my home
State data
It would be more helpful to know how these positive reported cases were obtained. This virus is creating fear. Report more important facts about how it’s contracted. Wash your hands!
Non-closure of hair salons
I wonder why hair salons in Gulfport are not required to close down? Their employees are required to come into much closer contact with with their customers than restaurant, casino, or many other businesses that are closing and their are usually more than ten people at one time. They are putting a lot of older people at risk.
Petri dishes?
Schools are closed. Churches don’t meet. Community events are canceled. Even casinos are closed. But the bars are open and flourishing — petri dishes for coronavirus. Why?
No cost
To the person who wrote that some people will not get tested because the Medicaid extension was not enacted: the test is free!
Casinos closing
What with all the casino closing, I certainly hope they’re still paying their employees whose livelihoods depend on a daily job!
Bright idea
One way the government can distribute the $1,000 check is use the information on the Census form. It is a win-win, you get your check and the government gets a prompt response to the Census.
