Sound Off for March 18, 2020
Not just a beer
I’m a veterinarian. I overheard someone ask, “Why would anyone name a virus after a beer?” Actually, coronavirus’ moniker comes from the fact that, under an electron microscope, it looks like a crown, related to our English word “coronation.”
Come and take it
The only way you will get my toilet paper is if you pry it from my cold dead hands.
Temporary dock
The only reason cruise ships are in Gulfport is because of limited space at other ports. Cruise ships will not be docking at Gulfport within the next 20 years. All recent cruise studies graphically explain why. The February study from the Port of Corpus Christi shows why Tampa, Mobile, New Orleans and Galveston will provide all the needed cruise berth capacity needed for the next two decades.
Fear
Why be afraid of the cruise ship which is docked miles from your doorstep? You should be worried about all the uninsured people who won’t get tested because Mississippi won’t adopt the Medicaid extension.
Tables turned
The U.S. airlines have gouged the consumer every way possible. Most charge for bags and sufficient room ti fit your knees in the seat. Now it’s please help us (so we can continue to exploit the consumer).
Need to stay home
Why are our supervisors not following government recommendations for workers at our court houses to stay at home? These supervisors will be receiving money to compensate for this employee leave. Also, no court cases are scheduled. What is the real reason?
Big government
We don’t seem to have a problem with government help to keep us safe from a deadly virus, provide food for our kids out of school and pay our salary when we’re out of work. It’s just government help for other people we have a problem with.
Bring business back
Maybe now we can get people to manufacture in America. This should be a wake up call for manufacturers and retail who depend lopsidedly on China for their parts and products.
