Sound Off for March 7, 2020

My appreciation

My wife passed away Sunday morning. I would like to express my appreciation to the Gulfport Fire Department, especially the crew of Engine 11. They responded in seems like just 2 minutes. I would also like to thank the Gulfport Police Dept., Sgt. Spangler and the two other patrolman that responded. All responders were highly professional, caring, compassionate and consoling. Gulfport is truly well protected and I good hands. Thank you.

Empty buses

What a waste of monies funding CTA. If the Coast Transit Authority cannot fund itself, maybe we really don’t need its existence. Almost all of the time when these buses are rolling there might be a couple of people riding and the rest of the bus is empty. When the federal government and cities like Biloxi stop throwing monies at losing causes it will be much better for the national deficit and also would help to stop the waste of funds that the cities are spending. What few people rely on the buses to get to work other means could easily be accommodated.

Fault

I agree with people complaining about Republicans running the state. I’m a Republican. But the Democrats are just as bad. That’s what people like about Trump. He’s not a politician.

The right tone

It’s not that Trump never said people should go to work sick that bothers me. It’s that he said people are. Too many aren’t taking the threat of coronavirus seriously. Because he doesn’t. As leader of this country, it is his duty to warn us, prepare us, and implement ways to try to protect us. Not to downplay it because it makes him look bad. Or blame others for his lack of knowledge or handling. This isn’t a joke people. Yes, our death toll is low — for now. Yes many cases probably aren’t reported. But it is apparent it is spreading.

No doom and gloom

“Unfettered Info” Sound Off is why we have panic. The coronavirus is not close to cases/deaths of the regular flu. We are not China. The briefing by the VP’s team was impressive. We have the best local, state, national system in the world to handle this, and the president’s team is awesome. Of course it will spread, but we will handle it, it won’t be China or even close to the flu when it is over. Hopefully we will be more positive and less negative.
