Sound Off for March 5, 2020
Misguided?
Perhaps “Misguided” could check the facts regarding the “Gulfport Port” a.k.a. MS State Port Authority. The funds were federal, obtained by Governor Haley Barbour, not Phil/Tate. Might also want to research economic benefits of a port not only to local municipalities but to the entire state. I do agree we can always use more permanent, higher-wage jobs.
Finally
Finally our elected officials in Washington have found a common cause that they can actually work on as bipartisans and make the USA a better, safer place to live. Minor League Baseball (MiLB)! How absurd is it to devote so much money and attention to a ball, bat and glove. West Virginia is losing a MiLB team in “downturn coal country” while the social democrats like are committed to killing the coal industry all together. And the alternative is federal intervention to save a pastime over livable wages? Hey Biloxi, hows that ball park working for you?
Sign of love
I am a snowbird that lives part-time in Diamondhead. I do not go to church, but I love the teachings of Jesus because they are all about love and tolerance. I recently displayed a nicely printed 2×3 foot sign in my yard just saying that in our home we believe in ethics. I had bought the sign on the internet, and it was tasteful and printed in pastel colors. We left to go up North a few days ago, and someone has already removed it. I am not a bit shocked because down here a lot of people go to church, but are offended by a peaceful sign.
Biloxi bias
So instead of saying Biloxi had 4 homicides in 7 days, you spin it as Harrison county having 6 in 7 days. Yeah, you did mention near the end of the article about 4 in Biloxi but anywhere else the headline would have been totally different. See, this is why we don’t trust you media people anymore.
Real criminal
In response to “Real crime,” you don’t say what the speed limit is where you got your 39 mph ticket. Was it 35 mph or was it maybe 20 or 25 mph? Regardless, I am glad to hear that Gulfport police, or any other police, are finally out addressing the problem of speeding and reckless driving that has grown so rampant in the last few years. I have witnessed driving (just yesterday) that was deserving of jail time it was so dangerous. Keep up the good work!
