Sound Off for March 4, 2020
Ongoing OS issue
I have observed Ocean Springs police addressing homeless or panhandling incidents a few times. Someone reports an issue and a policeman shows up promptly to address it in a professional yet compassionate manner. I was impressed each time.
One solution
If a panhandler is disrupting your business, give him a couple of bucks to go somewhere else. It’s cheaper than losing business, and the panhandler can then buy a donut and cup of coffee.
DMV
Ah yes, the DMV. My daughter replaced her Mississippi driver’s license online, simple enough. Since our birthdays are one day apart she tried to renew mine too. Three times mine came up invalid. Since no infractions had occurred it was puzzling. We went to the DMV in D’Iberville, where we sat and waited for 3.5 hours. We even tried the kiosk which was not working properly. Finally my number was called. I gave the examiner my license which read invalid. She then asked for my Social Security number. Apparently my eight-year license had been invalid because my the number was entered incorrectly in 2012. This is unacceptable, especially for a state agency!
Offensive T-shirts
This past week I was eating dinner with my two granddaughters at two different family restaurants. On both occasions, an adult woman was seated and served while wearing a T-shirt with the F-word spelled out in 2-inch letters. Restaurant owners/managers please train those who seat your customers to excuse themselves for a moment to get you so you can address this at the door. Unless I’m “out of touch” and this is now acceptable.
Roll uphill
Sunday’s Sunherald headlines: Lots of Coach changes for Hopson’s USM football squad. We shall see in September 2020 if all these new coach’s will make a difference. Use to start at the top, but now I heard that it never rolls up hill. Nuff said. “Go Golden Eagles.”
Election interference
With the current medical panic being perpetrated on the American public, many people will avoid going to vote for fear of being infected. I guess the next impeachment cycle will be Chinese collusion and interference with the 2020 election.
