Sound Off for Feb. 17, 2020
He delivers
You may not like him but he’s delivering. Trump 2020.
He’ll be re-elected
Hats off to President Trump. Instead of focusing on the impeachment he took the opportunity to remind citizens of his administrations accomplishments and what is coming next. The behavior of the Democrats was to be expected, but not the “good Catholic” Nancy Pelosi who really showed her true stripes. Nothing will change, except Trump is re-elected.
Make your case
I would like to hear a Democrat running for president say why they want to be president, not how and why they have to beat Trump. Someone should advise them never to say his name period.
Helping tax base
People who are paid “under the table” pay taxes every time they buy anything. They help our tax base.
Buying the election?
I see Obama supporting Michael Bloomberg. Wow. Not even supporting Biden. Bloomberg is planning on buying this election.
Who wins?
Republicans want to privatize our schools, prisons and postal service. They say that when private companies take over government-run programs, they run more efficiently. “More efficiently” actually means fewer employees and bad service. Let’s say a government-run company has a running budget of $1 million a year. If it is privatized, that budget now has to include a profit for the owners. That profit has to come out of that budget. The company now has to run on less money. Who wins?
Very predicatable
With Bernie surging in the polls, the media and the DNC discredit him and immediately jump on the Bloomberg bandwagon. Oh, so predictable. Our local news will be no different.
Not appreciated
Your recent Leonard Pitts commentary was the most condescending thing I’ve ever read in the Sun Herald. I know our once local paper is now owned by a concern from Sacramento, Calif., that evidently feels obligated to force its open disdain for half of the people in this country, but columns like Leonard Pitts’ should be recognized for their over-the-line hateful content and should be culled.
