Sound off for Feb. 12, 2020

Never learn?

Nothing named Margaritaville has ever made it in Biloxi. Remember the first try at a Casino ended in disaster, the mismanaged failed second attempt didn’t last too long and now look at this latest attempt. Probably go belly up soon as well.

Fair share

I am explaining how the rich don’t pay their fair share of taxes. In my household we pay more than 17% of our income to taxes. Rich people invest their income because they don’t need it to live on. They only pay taxes on the capital gains from their investments. Capital gains taxes are around 17%, which is a much lower tax rate than we pay.

Cancel Hollywood?

It is so sad to say,but Hollywood is dead. Hollywood’s audience is itself. The American public is turned off with those privileged phonies lecturing us how to live our lives through a political lens. These people know nothing about politics, history or the everyday world.

Not free

Bernie is not “offering free stuff.” He is suggesting working people who pay for our government should get something back. Currently our taxes go to endless and needless wars and giving welfare to big corporations. Many of our biggest corporations pay zero taxes. Our richest people pay lower taxes than we working people do. Things can change overnight by making corporations pay taxes, make rich people pay the same percentage of taxes that the rest of us do, add a very small tax on all stock purchases, and quit invading countries.

Call me a skeptic

Just heard Bernie Sanders say with his Medicare for all, there will be no premiums and no deductibles. My wife and I paid into to Medicare all of our working years. We now pay almost $300 a month for Medicare part B, with deductibles, and it doesn’t cover prescriptions, dental, hearing, vision, etc. It is due to go broke in a few years, with limited coverage of seniors.

Be specific

Advice to nurses. I know a lady who was admitted to the hospital for a heart cauterization. In prepping her, the IV’s on her hand were wrapped to keep them dry when taking a shower. She asked the nurse what she needed to take off to shwoer. He said everything. She removed her IV’s. She had to be re stuck and IV’s replaced.
