Aim higher

Tate Reeves speech was going well until he reverted to sophomoric tribalism. “We can let the East Coast have their ivory towers. We can let the West Coast have a generation of gender studies majors. We will take more jobs and higher pay.” Which means, second best is best for Mississippi.

No big deal

I’m so sick of hearing how terrible Mississippi schools are. I’m sure there are some like all states have that are below par. But here on the Coast we have great schools, as good or better than anywhere in the U.S. By the way, how much a teacher makes doesn’t make a good teacher.

More pay

All the new lottery money should go to bringing the pay scale for teachers and state workers to a descent, livable level. yet I am afraid our Republican politicians will just use it to give another big tax cut for the rich. If they do, vote them out!

Debatable names

“Good Luck” is guilty of mispronouncing Coast names. The city of Gautier is pronounced GO-CHAY, not go-shay. Ask anyone whose last name is Gautier. The go-shay silliness started in the ’60s when Ingalls moved a lot of engineers to the Coast from California. GO-CHAY, not go-shay. Hope channel 13 reads this.

Coronavirus

A very recent statistic on the coronavirus was 132 deaths in 6,000 cases reported. That works out to a 0.022 lethality rate. It’s about the same as a Major League Baseball batting average.

Why bother

A Trump impeachment defense attorney said “we trust the American people to decide who will be their president.” Well, not really true or there would have been presidents Gore and Clinton who won the popular votes. In fact, the electoral college decides who will be president, not the American people.

Who needs an iceberg?

Sometimes it’s best to jump from a sinking ship when the person who is training you to be their successor is the first mate responsible for capsizing the boat.

Gross TV ad

Have you seen the insurance company television ad with Dale Winters licking Tina Fey’s face? It certainly does not encourage me to purchase their products. I think it is disgusting!

Ally

We are increasing our troops to Saudi Arabia. They are a Muslim nation, headed by a royal dictator with a history of producing terrorists (9/11 pilots, ambassador assassin). So we sell them millions of dollars in weapons and support them with troops because they are our allies. Hey, what about that wall!
