Sound Off for Jan. 29, 2020

Good luck

I’d like to say good luck to the person who wants the local news reporters to pronounce D’Iberville the way has for centuries. About 15 or so years ago they started saying So-shur for Saucier and Go-shur for Gautier. Native Coastians have always pronounced them as So-shay and Go-shay. Now we even have one calling Gulfport Golf-port.

Elections matter

Sure hope Tate’s state of state speech includes him taking blame for the shape of our prisons, roads (except private roads of course), bridges, environment, hospital closings, non-acceptance of hundreds of millions medical dollars, destroyed DMV, 25% BP money not coming to South Mississippi, brain drain, teacher shortages, failed industries given huge tax breaks with no payback nor jobs, Port of Gulfport’s 5,000 job promise — and the list continues for 50th ranked Mississippi. Watch how many times he says ‘we’’ and ‘God’(instead of God, how’d this happen?). Sure glad elections matter.

Just guessing

Do not tell me it is my fault when something goes wrong in the self checkout even if it is my fault. I was never given any training nor was I issued a smock.

Good, bad and ugly

I grew up in Biloxi and lived on the Gulf Coast most of my life. I voted for Trump and believe he has done a lot of good for our country. Now he is on trial for high crimes and misdemeanors. I hope he is not removed from office. It is, however, absolutely necessary that our Senate allows witnesses to testify. Without this it is a sham and our Mississippi senators will be part of that sham. Call or email senators Wicker and Hyde Smith and let them know that we need to hear the good the bad and the ugly!

Scratching my head

The Dems are accusing President Trump of withholding aid from Ukraine. If you do your research, you will see that 4 of the 7 House managers voted against giving Ukraine aid, one being Jerry Nadler. Let us not forget that Barack Hussein Obama withheld aid from Ukraine while Russia took over Crimea. Wait, I do stand corrected, Obama did send blankets to Ukraine. My bad!

Too short

Surprised that some TV networks are cutting short the Republican response time. Fairness?

Church and state

Are there any protestant churches in Biloxi that aren’t led and mostly attended by pro-Trump evangelicals?

Huge loss

I am also praying for the families of Ara Zobayan, Christina Mauser, Payton Chester, Sarah Chester, Alyssa Altobelli, John Altobelli, and Keri Altobelli. Their loss is just as devastating to them as the family and friends of Kobe and Gianna.
