Sound Off for Jan. 25, 2020
Oversight needed
For those businesses that allow one person to receive collections, make deposits, write checks, record transactions, make payment and reconcile bank statements are just as guilty as the embezzlers who milk the business of substantial sums. To allow one person such control of the accounting transactions and records with no oversight is a disaster waiting to happen. How a successful business not realize that over $300,000 of funds have been taken by another is hard to believe. I worked for an audit agency and we use to say “In God we Trust, all others we audit.” For those businesses that haven’t been zapped of funds, take the initiative to oversee their accounting operations and never trust one individual to have unlimited control of financial records.
Pay attention
Yet another woman has been caught embezzling from her workplace. One thing is certain, they never read this newspaper. If they did read it, they would soon see that eventually they would be caught! Seems like every three or four weeks another one bites the dust.
Hypocrisy
The tax collector was convicted for billing $690 for gas! Reminds me of Martha Stewart jailed for inside trading. Men get away with this all the time. I am not saying fraud should not be punished, but the hypocrisy is overwhelming.
Doesn’t add up
A broken headlight lens, damage to the front of the Jeep, and a cracked windshield bottle sounds like a lot of damage done since the driver said he was only going 2 mph when he hit those two elderly ladies in Ocean Springs. Hope the police also think it’s strange.
Rights?
The inmates want rights? What about the rights of the people they’ve harmed? The only rights victims have is to know that those who have harmed them also have no rights. Inmates have food shelter medical care, so much more than victims have, especially the dead ones.
Where is the lie?
It is a sad day in journalism when one cannot believe what is in print. Bogus articles in anti-Trump papers can be refuted by doing research, but who has time for that? Freedom of the press should not be freedom to lie without being held to account. Even when the press is exposed, they do not admit guilt.
Semantics
Mr. President, if it looks like quid pro quo, sounds like quid pro quo and smells like quid pro quo, then it is. Any moron can see that in the articles of impeachment.
Just plain folks
Gary was a regular guy. One day, I saw him outside of the courthouse and as I walked by by and said Gaarryy. And he said hi.
