Sound Off for Jan. 23, 2020
No options
I am pleased that we have cold weather shelters open in extreme temperatures. I just can’t understand why the people have to leave the shelter so early the next morning while the temperatures are still extreme. Where are they supposed to go?
Not in the know
To the person who complained about the the late opening time of the cold weather shelter, I suggest you go out and open your own shelter. If you haven’t work as a volunteer at a cold weather shelter please don’t criticize how and when they are operated!
Question
Why is Feed My Sheep is closed on Saturday and Sunday?
New business
I feel so sorry for the small shops in Old Town Bay St. Louis. First, very bad summer. Then the hotel being built at the corner of Main St. and Beach Blvd. This intersection has been closed for weeks on end. This is a good time of year for business because of the “snow birds” but they have to be able to get to the stores. Doesn’t anyone with city government care about this financial hardship?
More clarification
I disagree with “clarification” that money is not wasted trying to stop man-made carbon dioxide. Imagine life without medicines, computers, fertilizer, internal combustion engines, building materials, planes, trains, cooking, A/C, heating, electricity, etc. All of these generate man-made carbon dioxide and there is no way to produce them without it. Until we have enough wind, solar and other clean energy, which is highly unlikely, we are stuck with it. Yes, we can reduce it, but not noticeably, given that it is such a small part of total greenhouse gases.
Lost cane
I lost my wooden walking cane at Sam’s Club, Gulfport on Tuesday. It’s a heavy, brown cane. The cane belonged to my Dad and I had it for 30 years. If found please call 228-207-9563. I will give a $25 reward for the return of the cane. Thank you.
Speak plainly
“The stabilization of our government remains reprieved contingent on the decisions we make as leaders... .” This is a direct quote from Moss Point’s mayor. Anybody have a clue what this means? Sounds like someone was using a thesaurus to make a simple statement more complex than necessary. If even the simplest politicians would speak plainly to the people, it would remove lots of doubt about who they are and what they stand for.
