Beyond Watergate?

We have come to a point in our democracy where the rule of law and constitution are on trial. If Republicans in the Senate refuse to allow documents and volunteering witnesses to testify in a legal impeachment, it would be an unquestionable, historical cover-up beyond Watergate. Every member of the Senate will forever be remembered for the undermining of the Constitution.

Christian values

Living in the South, going to church, I often heard people brag about their Christian values. Jesus devoted his life to helping the poor and disenfranchised. This included criminals. Actually, he was incarcerated, tortured and put on trial and found guilty. He showed mercy on the cross and forgave his enemies.

A big surprise

Boy, am I confused. I had no idea that the major league baseball sign-stealing scheme involved banging on garbage cans under the stands. I thought that was for keeping the fans awake.

Can you see it?

Mississippi runs two big statewide organizations, schools and prisons. They are both the worst in the nation and poorly run. Do the Republicans not see this? And the correlation between them? We are Republican run and I have to say they are doing the worst job in the country. Is it Trump that has brought out the worst in the GOP?

Trump’s re-election

Nancy Pelosi turned over the articles of impeachment to the Senate, but what really happened is she formally kicked off the president's re-election campaign, complete with souvenir ink pens.

Getting hacked?

Once again Bernie Sanders is being hacked by the DNC and the mainstream media, CNN to be sure. He was polling close to the top, and pop goes the weasel.

The good old boys

This is to the writer of “same old thing,” who says the good old boys keep getting re-elected in Mississippi. You think Jim Hood is not a good old boy? His ads even showed it, complete with a shotgun, dog and truck.

High costs

The average prisoner cost is $31,000 a year to house. The U.S. spends $80 billion a year to house prisoners. I assure you the inmate that murdered Biloxi Officer Robert McKeithen is sleeping and eating well today.

More info needed

I appreciate seeing the notices of the adoption of ordinances in the classifieds in the newspaper. I'm glad to know that council members are present and to read how they voted. However, there is no information on what the ordinance actually covers. Since the ones listed recently were voted on and passed in October, why are there no results when I look them up on the city's website?
