Sound Off for Jan. 20, 2020

Better candidates

The Democratic candidates for president are a pitiful lot. If the party doesn’t come up with someone better, Trump will be a shoo-in.

No policy

I was in line at the Biloxi auto tag office this week to acquire a tag for my car when I realized that there was no policy for the disabled or handicapped to access the line ahead of 20 other people. The clerk indicated that there was no such policy. Help.

Vote your conscience

If you or a friend or loved one has a pre-existing medical condition, and you vote Republican, you are voting to strip that person of medical coverage. Before you vote party lines, please research exactly what the person running for office actually believes and stands for, or against. If a politician runs on being a Trump supporter, you can bet that politician is against pre-existing coverage, social security benefits, disability benefits and welfare in any form. Vote you conscience and for America, and not for a particular party.

Like the feature

Love stories in 100 words or less. Wow. What a wonderful addition to our paper. I especially enjoyed the many ways that love appears around us.

Here’s a start

If Tate Reeves is sincere about promoting “a loving culture that underpins our quality of life,” he can start by apologizing for calling Jim Hood a socialist, which was a lie and denigrated the political process.

Love the peace

If you have wifi in your home and want to stop most robo calls, you can now buy a “wifi call blocker” online. I have been using one for two months, and it has dramatically reduced the nuisance calls. Finally, some peace in my own home.

Size matters

Big Macs have dwindled. They should call them Little Macs.

Share the blame

According to the investigative story on Sunday, Mississippi is the only state that has a debtor’s prison. The investigation shows that judges often lock up people for as long as they choose for unpaid fines, tickets, and other monies owed. I often wonder what our legislators do when in Jackson. It’s obvious they do not address the penal system. They should share in the blame for what is currently happening in our state prisons.
