Sound Off for Jan. 15, 2020
Boom
On Thursday, Jan. 9, there was a very large boom which sounded like a heavy explosive went off. A lot of people in Orange Grove in Gulfport heard it from Northwood Hills to Dedeaux to Windsong. There has been nothing on this. Does anyone know what this was? And no it was not a sonic boom or transformer blowing, it was very loud and shook some peoples homes. It was definitely an explosion of some sort.
No mercy
People need to understand that prison is not supposed to be a Hilton hotel for prisoners. It is supposed to be an effort to thwart recidivism. As long as prisoners get three hots and a cot, I am okay with that. If they want any more then maybe they should look back upon their lives and make a few changes.
Help needed
Lieutenant governor, I do applaud you for visiting Parchman. Did you try the food or was a special meal prepared for you? There is a lot of wrong going on there and has been for years. Hope you can help.
Privilege
Free speech is one of the greatest rights granted to us under our Constitution. However, in order for the masses to enjoy that right allowances have to made to the few who abuse it. Case in point: The woefully uninformed Sound Off writer who complained that those in prison should be at the end of the food chain because they enjoy such a privileged life-style while incarcerated in our wonderful prisons!
Lights on
When will all police start issuing tickets for vehicles driving with no lights in the rain, fog and dusk? There are more drivers breaking the law than any other crimes being committed.
Grocery dreams
When will Gulfport get a Whole Foods or a Trader Joes? Gulfport could use a grocery store with a wide variety of vegetables and quality meats.
Different fuel?
Instead of depleting our forests making wood pellets for Asia, why not use invasive plants such as bamboo and Kudzu? There has to be a use for them and this would be better than hurting our forests!
Not responsible
I read the Sound off about the person who wrote in after watching “Nova” on MPB. I also watched this and was amazed how different our views are, so I went to the NASA website. In it the NASA statement is this: No, the Sun can influence the Earths climate, but it isn’t responsible for the warming trend we’ve seen over the past decades. The warming we’ve (NASA) over the last few decades is too rapid to be linked to changes in Earth’s orbit and too large to be caused by solar activity. Please go to climate.nasa.gov for more information.
