Sound Off for Jan. 14, 2020
Not so nice
If you want to be nice and let someone in ahead of you in traffic, that’s great. Please be considerate of the people behind you, too! Look in your rearview mirror. If there is only one car behind you, please do not stop and let someone in ahead of you, especially if the light is green! Everyone can wait their turn.
Last
I think the prisoners in Mississippi should be on the end of the food chain. After we find money for our schools and infrastructure, then look for money to house criminals. The prisoners get better treatment than our law-abiding citizens. They get a free room, three meals a day, free medical and more. We spend more on them than we spend on students.
Hit a nerve?
Everything in my Sound Off that the Sun Herald labeled “Real solutions” were facts extracted from a Sun Herald article of a study done in Europe on their switch from coal to wood. It was not wrong data or alternative facts as “No real solutions” stated. Perhaps the fact that under Trump we moving reliance to natural gas, that is three times better that burning wood hit a hate-Trump nerve.
Good candidate
The Saints need to try really hard to hire the Titans defensive coordinator.
Same old, same old
Everyone complains about elected officials returning to office term after term after term and doing the same old things. Almost everyone says the answer is term limits. But no one, especially the voters, does anything about it. Want proof of that? Take a look at the newly elected slate of statewide officials.
Not too hard
Some people need to be educated about garbage, recycle and trash pickup. The big containers are for household and kitchen items, food waste in particular. The small, easy-to-tip over containers are for recyclables. Big trash, like tree limbs, is picked up by another truck, usually being requested for pick up. I see big containers brimming over with loose, dry trash and food garbage on the ground. It does not work that way.
Bay tragedy
The Bay St. Louis shootings that left two dead and two wounded is a terrible tragedy. Interesting that within hours the police chief suggests it’s “a random act of violence.” The shooter’s rap sheet indicates he should have already been locked up months if not years ago. It would also be a good time to ask why this should not be considered a hate crime. There is a lot more to this so called “random act.” I hope it stays in the public light for longer than a couple of days.
