Impact studies

The Corps of Engineers opens the Bonnet Carre spillway with no regard to the environmental impacts on the Gulf Coast. Try filling a ditch in your own backyard that the Corps deems to be wetlands without first hiring a professional to conduct an impact study, and see what the Corps does to you.

Dónde está Tex-Mex?

In my native South Texas, breakfast tacos/burritos are available everywhere. Local fast food offerings don’t compare. Anyone know of a Tex-Mex or Mexican restaurant that serves them in Hancock or Harrison counties?

Big thanks

I had a medical emergency and spent eight days in the Intensive Care Unit at Hancock Ochsner Hospital in Bay St. Louis. The nurses, male and female, were compassionate professionals. My own mother could not have given me any better care than they did. I give the doctor and hospital ten stars.

Insurance limits

Can someone please tell me why a Gulfport hospital would tell me I need to go to Ocean Springs to be treated for my health problems? I have been told not just once but a couple of times that they did not take my medical insurance. I have insurance that I can afford. I am really upset about this. I live in Harrison County and pay Harrison County taxes. Why do I have to go to another county to another hospital to get treatment? Harrison County should be taking care of their own!

Protect your lungs

The problem with vaping is that it is being marketed to teenagers. Cigarette use had been decreasing. Now kids think it is cool and not harmful or addicting. It contains nicotine. Take it from a retired surgical nurse, you do not want to die or worst develop chronic lung disease. Don’t you see all the oxygen tanks and scooters?

Going gray, into the red

In my working years, the government took money from my paycheck and from the company I worked for. I also contributed to the stock market via my IRA. Today the majority of my income is from my IRA. The S&P 500 produces gains far in excess of Social Security. If the government wants to increase wealth in retirement, it should give workers the option of investing all or part of their Social Security contributions to the stock market.

Hancock growth

What’s missing in the 12/18 story “Biggest new businesses in south Mississippi in 2019?” Could it be lack of any such developments in Hancock County, and if so why?

It’s back

For recycle of bags/plastics, Walmart has their big box back in the lobby.
