Sound Off for Dec. 19, 2019

Thanks Trump

Just read about all the new lovely projects being built along the Gulf Coast. The naysayers can now bow down and say thank you, President Trump, for the economic boom in our own hometowns.

Eyesore removal?

What kind of person would want to remove a homeless person because they are an eyesore? Doesn’t the Bible say God can be found in the least of us? And wasn’t Jesus homeless?

A sad day

It’s a sad day for America when Democrats feel the only way to keep the current president from being re-elected is to impeach him.

Skewed results

Political polls are not any different than Facebook ads from Russia. Poll results are absolutely skewed to whoever paid for it. Fox News has consistently polled Trump favorably until he insulted them. The next day they announce unfavorable poll results.

Only fair?

If the Senate holds a trial or hearing on impeachment, they should use the same rules the house committees used.

Not happy

I’m getting no bang for my cable TV dollars. As a second shift worker, I'm forced to watch late night, local cable programing. The info-commercials, paid programming and constant really old, same movies re-runs dominate late night cable TV. A new cable TV programming technique has been introduced as of late, silent movies and cartoons aired on movie channels. If our local cable company is trying to keep subscriptions prices down by these horrible programs, they are surely doing a good job, What can be done about this subpar public service? A review by our Public Service Commission is surely warranted.

Large payments

The rich are not receiving larger Social Security payments. Their payments are based on the amount paid into the system. The longer you work and pay into the system, the larger your payments. Retire early and you collect less.

Bad information

These "expert" articles on taking your Social Security payout are getting a little nauseous. Many "experts" emphasize the advantage taking your social security later for higher payout. These "experts" obviously don't read our obituary section locally; the lifespan here would cut many out of their benefits. Further, if you do decide to take the benefits later, just what do you plan to do with money at your advanced age? Go on skiing trips? Climb Mount Everest? More likely, your money will go to your grandkids. As far as the rich getting a higher payout, their earned income may have a lot to do with that. Besides, as the liberals wrongly call social security an "entitlement," wouldn't you go and ask for a larger entitlement since you are equally "entitled?"
