Sound Off for Dec. 18, 2019
Safety first
On Saturday evening driving on U.S. 90 at approximately a mile before reaching Jones Park, traffic moved at a snail’s pace. Traffic came to a standstill at the east entrance to Jones Park, while cars were trying to turn into the park and pedestrians were trying to cross U.S. 90 to get into the park for the holiday lights display. On top of that, fog was rolling in. All of this makes for a potential accident to happen. Until the holidays are over, Gulfport police need to be out there directing traffic before something tragic happens.
Trump will win
In theory the U.S. used to have three branches of government. They were the executive, judicial and legislative branches. Today there are only two branches, the executive and the House of Representatives. The liberals would like to make this a one-branch government. The National Socialists Bernie and Biden have already decided to call it the Politburo. There are still a few Democrats and a lot of informed Americans that see this. That is why Donald Trump will win in 2020.
Done with NFL
Pleased to see there are some still out there who feel as strongly as I do in regards to the NFL. Once a diehard fan, I have not watched a game since the Pittsburgh Steelers hid in the tunnel during the playing of our national anthem at Soldier Field in 2017. I am ashamed of those players who acted similarly. The disrespectful actions of overpaid, misguided professional players and the spineless owners and commissioner have forever tainted the game. "America's game" no more.
Packed Superdome
To “Got the Message:” As I read your Sound Off response on Tuesday morning about the “...vast numbers of empty seats...” at NFL games as a result of the backlash to to the anthem issue, I thought about the Monday Night Football game I had watched the night before. I guess Saints’ fan really didn’t get the message. The place was packed. And, I predict every other game this season will be sold out. Even Rush Limbaugh, a leader of the NFL boycott movement, admitted he had an NFL game on his television.
Less onerous
I see the GOP has done its part to make Mississippi's liquor laws less onerous. Now if they'd just allow sales of wine in grocery stores perhaps we'd get some of the super supermarkets. Also they need to get rid of the ABC warehouse concept. We need to be able to order whatever we wish.
Lack of facts
House Democrat Representative Maxine Waters admits she has no facts to support her most outrageous accusations against President Trump. It’s just her beliefs. Well, that’s typical of liberal, rabid anti-Trumpers. Don’t let facts or truth get in the way of your unfounded, visceral hatred.
