Sound Off for Dec. 16, 2019
Too tempting
Surely there is a mistake in the reporting of ways to pay for upcoming Mississippi lottery tickets. Cash and debit cards are understandable, since it is your money taken out of your pocket or available bank accounts for purchases as you wish. But credit cards? That is a gigantic flaw in the system for problem gamblers to load up on their available credit to double up and catch up with scratch-off chances. What are the rules-makers thinking? The people that can afford it the least would be using credit cards for their pie in the sky.
Potential problem
I noticed someone installing fiber optics in people’s front yards. If suddenly your sewer stops up, there is a good possibility they hit your sewer line and broke it. It happened to me a few years ago, and when I called the city I was accused of trying to get a free hole dug in my front yard. I ended up digging it up and proving what happened and then they fixed it. I recommend you find the most expensive plumber you can and stick them with the bill.
Recycle
Just found out Walmart will not have the big box for plastics recycling in the lobby anymore. Does anyone know of any other store that may take plastic bags? Will also call Waste Pro.
Confused
How many people have had this experience: I receive a telephone call with an unfamiliar number. I do not accept the call. I immediately do a call back and am told I have reached a non-working number. Doesn’t the phone company have any control of their system?
Two requests
Called the Woolmarket road department to have the gang numbers removed from the “stop ahead sign” on East Wortham Road and it was not done. Am also wanting the speed bump at the Biloxi River bridge on East Wortham paved for a smoother ride. Phone call doesn’t work. Hope this does.
Time to go
Just makes you wonder. The City of Biloxi allows cars to be parked in the streets, as long as you don't live on a major roadway. Most of the cars parked in the streets have empty driveways, or even worse their garages are full of junk while their cars block the roads. Just think if every one was as inconsiderate as some. If everyone decided to park their cars in the streets it would be like an obstacle course maneuvering down the road. If you don't have enough room on your property to park your vehicles without putting them in the street, might be time to consider moving.
Too high
An increase in property taxes and a 9% increase in sewer rates! When will the Ocean Springs Board of Alderman have enough money? Higher taxes and fees along with busted campaign promises seems to be their modus operandi.
