Sound Off for Dec. 12, 2019

Ghost riders

Handicap car plates and temporary windshield sign are being abused! Sad but true, able-bodied drivers parking in handicapped parking spaces. Not only is these parking violators breaking the civil law but also moral ethics. Yes, parking just for a minute is wrong and illegal!

Good offer?

Too bad the residents of Gulf Hills resisted the guy who was going to build an RV park by golf course. Now they will have no golf course. Sometimes people don’t realize when they have a good offer.

Update?

The breaking news said Mary Mahoney’s was raided with 15 to 20 agents with warrants, and computers were confiscated. Then nothing in the news. Why the silence? Where is the follow up?

Editor’s note: Information on federal investigations is rarely available to the public and the media before the process is complete.

One option

Dear Gulfport and Harrison County voters, we’re going to have an aquarium, regardless of negative predictions or costs. If entrance fees are insufficient, we’ll just raise your taxes! We’ll put our names all over the place, and never even mention you. Sincerely, your city and county politicians.

Precedent

So, Forrest County erects a statue to memorialize Vernon Dahmer outside their courthouse. Their Board of Supervisors President David Hogan said, “I think it’s incumbent on us to preserve our history.” Everyone involved should understand that 100 years from now, someone will claim to be offended by this statue and demand it be moved to a “less prominent location.” And those wanting it to be moved will win their case because of the precedents being set today.” Ole Miss, you have a chance to stem this tide of “non-preservation of history” by choosing to leave the memorial in place.

Set an example

First of all, I totally support our police officers, because they have a very tough job. I do not consider officers who harass a teenage girl to be real police officers. Any so-called officer who uses his or her position to harass a teen has committed the worst crime an officer can commit. If true, these officers should never be allowed to pin on another badge.

Big help

I have the opposite experiences from those who have had bad experiences with the patient advocate at the Biloxi VA hospital. Every time I have had an ongoing problem with trying to get a doctors appointment, or an ongoing problem with employees not following through and getting back to me, I went to see the patient advocate. Sometimes she remedied the problem in minutes, literally. Each patient advocate I have dealt with over the years has been great in knocking down walls.
