Sound Off for Dec. 5, 2019

Righteous behavior

The criminal who is trying to get his "rights" back should be quiet. Where was the righteous behavior when he was a criminal? Men with morals do not commit crimes.

Deal with it

I see that the argument by felons wanting voting rights restored is that they are paying a price for making a mistake in life. I accidentally robbed a gas station. I did not mean to shoot the victim of my hold up. I was only selling two pounds of meth to feed my family. The excuses are endless. Removal of voting rights are part of the deterrent process. How many times have you heard in traffic court that ignorance of the law is no excuse? The same holds true when you commit a felony and are found guilty.

Friendly face

I received two robocalls in a single day, purportedly from the Social Security Administration, "warning" me that there's a warrant for my arrest. My son-in-law is a local law enforcement officer and my daughter says she'll have him arrest me so when it happens, at least I'll see a friendly face.

Not buying it

Kamala Harris has announced that she is dropping out of the race for the presidency because she is not a billionaire. That’s a copout. The bottom line is that anyone can have a successful campaign for president if he or she has the right message and the right persona. The money will come if the people support you, and, since the money didn’t come, it simply means that the people are not buying her radical, socialist agenda.

Planning needed

It is not if, but when, the flood waters from the Mississippi River return. The impact of the water was devastating to the Gulf Coast in 2019. The local economic and environmental impact cannot be calculated for 2019, but what is certain is that the flood waters will return. The solution rests squarely on our Congressional delegation. Their speeches should be on flood relief planning.

Outrage needed

I agree with the Sound Off called "bad for business." What is ironic is that Republicans rail against socialism, but are silent when Trump promotes socialistic policies. Where is the outrage from Steven Palazzo, Roger Wicker, Cindy Hyde Smith and Tate Reeves?

Think about it

The Sound Off entitled “the facts” is right on the mark. It is unfortunate that so many people cannot accept the true facts. The problem is, as I see it, that a large portion of our populace are susceptible to the propaganda that is being disseminated that distorts the truth. Think for yourself as an American, not as a member of a political party. Do your own evaluating, don't let someone else think for you.
