Sound Off for July 23: ‘Driving is a privilege not a right’

Traffic back-ups on U.S. 90 through Biloxi and Gulfport and other factors are leading to another study of an east-west corridor in Harrison County. The idea has been under consideration for 20 years or more.

Unofficial Pace Car

I was driving on I-10 on July 26 when the weather was nice and traffic was moderate. Traffic was moving along appropriately until it started to back up and slow down. This was due to a self-proclaimed pace car or left lane driver driving 50 miles an hour. If the driver would have looked in their rear view mirror, I was the sixth car behind you and there were four more behind me. You are dangerous and need to learn to drive the “speed limit” while driving in the passing lane. Better yet, drive in the right lane which is the driving lane. If you think somebody doing over the speed limit is dangerous, you are too!

Guilty as charged

If you support someone or something even though you know it is wrong, immoral, or suspicious by doubling down, then you are a blind follower. The word liberal means progressive or open minded. I’m guilty as charged.

Not the right way

Upholding the constitution guarantees free speech, freedom of the press, and no one is above the law.
Every president swears to uphold it. So no president should deny football players the right to protest or tell the news media how to report the news. Dictators do this; not U.S. presidents!

Stock tip

Marijuana stocks are on the rise.

No humor

When I was a young liberal Saturday Night Live was so funny. Now that I am an old conservative it has no humor.

Privileges are earned

Maybe instead of nonsense political traffic laws... politicians should put drivers education back into the schools. And maybe licensed drivers should have to pass a safety and road rules exam to renew. But that’s never gonna happen, it would make too much sense. Driving is a privilege not a right. Privileges are earned.

Friendly chat

The media wants to know what was said in the two-hour Trump-Putin closed door meeting. Based on history, the only thing they will accept is that they just talked about their grandchildren!

Answer this

Why should Trump walk back his statement regarding confidence in our intelligence community given the current political climate and the fact that it was that “intelligence” that embroiled us in an eight-year war with Iraq that cost the American people in excess of $2 trillion and 4,486 lives?
