Thanks to the crew

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, techs and staff at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. Their professionalism and kindness was over the top as I underwent surgery for my blocked right carotid artery. The crew that took care of my room made my stay much more pleasurable.

Practical opinions

If Congress can’t figure out reasonable gun control measures, we should all send our representatives Gail Laird’s letter to the editor in Sunday’s paper. It was practical, sound, doable actions that would go a long way toward sanity on this issue.

Needs review

The current issue of our credit union shopping newsletter lists several guns for sale by private owners. Classified ads in other publications regularly offer guns for sale. Does anyone else see anything wrong with this apparent lack of oversight? If I was looking for a weapon to commit mass slaughter, this seems like a viable source.

Not going downtown

We now live in West Biloxi and may only go to events “downtown” a couple of times a year, so the Vieux Marche is of little concern to us. I’m sure it must have been an important part of the business community some 50 to 60 years ago, but it is far less important today. We miss our Mugshots, but there are many other fun places to eat without having to go to Main Street.

A male thing?

Why is it that mostly all mass murders are committed by men?

What’s different?

Can someone explain to me how a new law to fund public schools will be any different from the existing law? The keyword is law. The MAEP law was broken 18 times in the last 20 years, so what will stop them from breaking a new law?

Enforce the laws

We need to have laws and have them enforced on drivers. People are not using headlights in fog or in the rain, which makes it hard to see them. I agree with the other person who posted about this.

A necessary evil

Fortunately, it’s a different world now and school threats are taken seriously. Unfortunately, the need to take those threats seriously is necessary in this different world.

Better care needed

Who manages or oversees the County Farm soccer fields? The restrooms this weekend were disgusting and the fields were covered in ant beds. This is a re-occurring problem. Rec games were on Saturday and teams from Louisiana played on Sunday. What kind of impression did the city/county leave with these families?
