Help needed

I read about 66-year-old Clara Daniels from Edwards, Mississippi, and her disabled son and how she has had no running water and no toilets (she goes out in the woods). She got a donated trailer and spent all her savings getting it moved, plus people have ripped her off by not finishing what they said they would do and left. Citizens of Mississippi, there is a GoFundMe account set up by Steve Pickett, with the nonprofit Mississippi Center for Police and Sheriffs. Please help this wonderful lady as she has been through very tough times.

Editor’s note: Please see the story by Sarah Fowler of The Clarion Ledger in Jackson on Clara Daniels and her plight, 5A.

Start over

Why don’t we form a new government and declare a new capital?

Fix education

Let’s focus on fixing our unfair education system.

Be nice

“If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all” doesn’t mean to be silent, it means to say something nice.

Pay up

Any representative, senator, president or other elected person in Washington who gets paid during the shutdown and accepts the pay should be impeached. They will certainly not get my vote and should not get yours.

Do what’s right

Republicans “in charge of Congress?” In the House, yes; but in the Senate, no! Legislative control in the Senate requires 60 votes, not the current 51. We need a few Democrats to step up, vacate their political agenda, and do what’s right for American citizens. Government shutdown would have been avoided with 60 votes in the Senate.

Simple majority fan

There is no compromise in Washington! The only solution I see is to abolish the 60-vote rule in the Senate and return to a simple majority.

Sharing the spotlight

President Trump has his vice president front and center with him as it should be. Other vice presidents were pushed to the back and hardly heard from. Our president shares the spotlight with his. Not strange, but unusual.

Just a shot?

What agenda is the flu shot a part of?

Exercise my rights

Can I get paid time off from work for marching and protesting? If not, Congress should make it a law. I want to protest lots of stuff, and marching is, of course, healthy exercise.

Jobs first

If people had jobs, they wouldn’t be protesting.
