What happened to family time?

There is so much competition on Thanksgiving on who is opening first, who has the best sales, that the family time together is no longer. This time of year is so commercialized that the time we should be spending with family is no longer in most households. We need to change.

An ‘earned status’

I do not believe everyone wearing a uniform deserves being called a hero. To me this is an “earned status” to those who wear a uniform and to those who do not. And yes, especially to all true heroes who now cannot speak for themselves.

No respect

The showboating in the end zone during the Egg Bowl by an Ole Miss player was the worst I have seen in college football. He showed no respect for himself, his team and his university. Should have sent him straight to the locker room.

Time to stop

2018 should be the year for women to come out and say, enough is enough — and run for office everywhere. Sexual abuse/harassment along with a hostile work environment should stop!

Refreshing sports

Twenty years ago, I attended a rugby game in Auckland, New Zealand, and never thought I would be interested in the sport, but now with my lack of interest in the NFL, I find myself becoming a genuine rugby and soccer fan. Just a refreshing display of sportsmanship makes it quite enjoyable.

Down the drain

Seems to me the only person trying to drain the swamp is Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Let’s hope he also drains the slime.

‘Tis the season

The holiday season, most people are warm and peaceful, exchanging smiles and greetings. For an entire month I can simply smile at rude, mean people and walk on past without a care. Ah. And for all you folks locked up in a dark room all alone squinting at your little screen to shop — I’m gonna hit the old brick-and-mortar stores and see if there are any people left who still enjoy getting out into society and having some human holiday interaction.

Don’t call me ‘sir’

I am a female who has shoulder-length hair. Customers constantly call me “sir.” Sir, can you help me? Sir, do you work here? Sir, do you know ...? If you are not sure what sex someone is, just ask, “Can you help me or do you work here?” It would make me feel better and spare you from embarrassment.

Air hose woes

The reason you can’t find a decent air hose at a service station is because vandals keep cutting off the end of the hose maybe for fun or maybe it helps their paid air compressor business. I didn’t know there were any service stations still around.
