Gains lead to gains

There is correlation between the stock market (S&P500) and the economy (GDP). The correlation is by no means perfect but to say that the stock market and the economy are “two different things entirely” is to not understand their relationship to each other. The stock market presents “what is hoped to be” while the GDP presents “what has been.” Based on a confident hope in Trump’s economic reforms, the stock market has gained over $5.2 trillion valuation since his election. This valuation doesn’t just go into a Scrooge McDuck room full of gold coins. It translates into jobs required to service increases sales.

What does this mean?

Has anyone noticed the weird behavior of the plants? We have a plum tree in bloom and new leaves sprouting and also our grape vines are sprouting new leaves. I spoke with relatives in Tennessee who said the plants that usually bloom in spring are blooming up there also. I’ve never seen this happen before.

Stennis excitement

We went to the Stennis Space Center Open House last Thursday when they had the engine test. What a great event. All involved should be thanked and congratulated. Go, Stennis!

Show respect

Respect the flag and the national anthem, honor those who gave their all and boycott the NFL.

Important message

I’m pretty confident that by eighth grade, every single student has already heard the N-word and knows what rape is. The important part of the book is what Atticus Finch teaches his children about doing the right thing despite the consequences.

Playing games

Yes, the stadiums may be “full” in your eyes and you may be very pleased. But this fiasco will not go away until NFL players, owners and sports talking heads stop the disrespectful behavior and misguided attempts to make excuses. For many Americans this goes to the heart of the matter. Love of country over entertainment. The league is obviously filled with ignorant, overpaid, privileged men playing a game in a land of great opportunity. A country they obviously hate. I feel very sorry for those who cannot see this.

Fix this

All the manhole cover locations on Popp’s Ferry Road northbound from Pass Road to the bridge are potential soon-to-be sinkholes. How about you, Biloxi Public Works? Surely a few of you have been jolted yourselves on this stretch of road.
