Sound Off for July 22: Waste Pro should get a new name
Who to call
Good article in Wednesday’s paper about saving the lives of young owls and other animals, but since one call is all it takes for this to happen, it would have been nice to have the phone number printed in the article so those who need it could then call or the proper name could have been provided to look up on the internet to call the correct number, don’t you think?

Bogus poll
Why are the Pencils only rated No. 2? Well, school hasn’t even started yet. This is obviously another example of a totally bogus preseason poll.
Name change
Maybe Waste Pro should be renamed Waste Amateur.
Patriot test
It’s hard to be patriotic when I’m getting the crummy end of the deal.
Get it done
When is city of Gautier going to get MDOT or whomever is responsible to synchronize the traffic lights on U.S. 90?
No loopholes
We need to work on closing loopholes so employers can’t game the system.
Pick it up!
We haven’t had trash pick up in Bay Vista Subdivision in a while. Our streets are really looking trashy. Maybe when downtown Biloxi is revitalized, we will see the workers again.
Smell of money
Have those opposed to the shrimp shell processing plant forgotten Pascagoula’s aroma roots? From the paper mill to the veneer mill to the pogey plant, where cat food was canned, those were the smell of paychecks.
Good TV
Steve Harvey has one of best TV shows “Forever Young.” Amazing what older senior citizens can do. Makes those of us sitting around letting people make us feel old want to do something.
Penmanship
I enjoyed reading the article on Alton Bankston and his students’ letters he discovered from 50 years ago. The students’ letter displayed had beautiful penmanship. It’s a shame that cursive is no longer taught in our schools. A signature should be a signature not the printing of one’s name.
Not here?
So even though the City Council approved Funtime USA, for some strange reason, the Code Enforcement Office had “objections” (additional requirements) all of a sudden. What part of “investors don’t have to invest their money here” do the good ol’ Gulfport boys and girls not understand?
