Sound Off: Gas stations should have power after hurricanes

A yellow bag reads “sorry temporarily out of service” informing customers of a gas outage at a station in Alabaster, Ala., on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley issued a state of emergency after a pipeline spill near Helena, Ala. Gas prices spiked and drivers found “out of service” bags covering pumps as the gas shortage in the South rolled into the work week, raising fears that the disruptions could become more widespread.

Faulty logic

To “What liberals want”: I must say you submitted a rather compelling letter. Clean energy, tax breaks, honor the military, religious freedom. I was on board. But then you stated liberals want to repair our roads and bridges. Big red flag! The so-called “stimulus package” was introduced by a liberal executive branch and passed by a Democratic-controlled Senate and Congress. Remember: Shovel ready jobs? I cringe at the sight of our liberal roads and bridges in disrepair. Good try!

Tune out

Well, I have stopped watching NFL games and I am now considering doing away with all television. There are so many books to read.

Great idea!

Thirty-two states are still offering online voter registration. Among them are Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Florida, Missouri, Virginia, West Virginia and Alabama. Registering to vote from home at a time that suits you, not the business hours of a state office? What an idea! And Mississippi?

Fired!

Thank you, Donald, for destroying the Republican Party and helping to elect the first woman president. Now you’re fired!

Bad behavior

In reply to “Asking too much”: Trump is not a high school boy who toilet-papered someone’s yard. Now that’s stupid. Trump was a 59-year-old man who said and did some very deplorable and degrading things to women. Till this day, he is still saying these degrading things. This is not a slap on the hand for this type of behavior.

Moderate!

What debate? It is two bullies swapping insults. Moderators are just instigators. Give them a logical question. Americans want answers.

Stand alone

Any senator or representative who depends on the presidential candidate to hold his seat has not done what he was elected to do. They do not deserve re-election.

Oughta be a law

If Mississippi does not already have a law requiring backup generators at gas stations when the power is out, someone needs to sponsor one. Florida has one and I am sure after Matthew, South and North Carolina will have one along with Georgia. It was traumatic to watch people trying to return to their homes and running out of gas.

Gets my vote

When are our wimpy Republicans in Congress going to realize the reason Donald Trump is the Republican candidate is because millions of voters wanted him? Quit thinking about your personal political power and get with the program. Trump gets my vote.
