Scenes from the Beach | July 10, 2016

Sun Herald File

We take pleasure in seeking nature's grand displays — glorious sunrises, mighty waves rushing ashore, lightning bolts illuminating night skies, flights of rarely seen birds. But there is also joy in small, seemingly insignificant things, like the fragment of a seashell that I hold this morning or driftwood that was found nearby. At water's edge, there is a sleek laughing gull, the most plentiful of all our shorebirds. So it is that we find simple beauty in the most commonplace objects.
