Your 'reaction' won't make us safer

I am so tired of hearing the boasts saying "If I had been there with my gun, that bad guy wouldn't have done what he did!" Please spare me.

No one can say ahead of time how they will react in a specific situation. The police and the military spend hours and hours training officers and soldiers how to react when faced with dangerous situations, but mistakes are still made and innocent people are maimed or die.

How does allowing people with negligible training, or any other type of accountability, unlimited access to weapons capable of mass destruction make us safer in America?
